Prof. Dr. Alexander Zeier is a globally acknowledged expert in SAP HANA & S/4HANA. He is considered one of the founders of HANA, which not only serves as the core foundation for S/4HANA but also provides essential access to SAP data necessary for the deployment of generative AI. As the project leader and co-inventor, he holds several patents on this transformative technology.


His areas of expertise include SAP HANA & S/4HANA, GenAI (Custom GPTs, LLMs), Real-Time Analytics, Machine Learning, and Cloud Transformations. He advises clients in the areas of Digital Transformation, SAP ERP system optimization to S/4HANA, Data and Cloud Platforms, Disruptive Technologies, and Innovative Business Models.



Alexander joined May4th Senior Management Advisors as a partner in 2024. He has also been an honorary professor at the Faculty of Computer Science for SAP, Cloud, and GenAI at the University of Magdeburg since 2013.


During his 11-year tenure as Managing Director and CTO for SAP at Accenture, Alexander advised and supported over 500 clients with the implementation of new technologies. He was Accenture's first Cloud Fellow and served as Chief Cloud Advisor to C-level executives. Additionally, as a Master Technical Architect, he defined technology strategies for complex and innovative projects and founded the Accenture Innovation Center for SAP HANA. He led the business area for HANA-related services, expanded with innovative cloud technologies, which generated billions in revenue annually with an increasing trend.


Previously, Alexander was at SAP and the Hasso Plattner Institute for many years. He was the deputy to Prof. Hasso Plattner (co-founder and Chairman of SAP) for the Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts group and was the responsible lead for the HANA project, where HANA was invented and developed from 2006 to 2012. He also served as the overall responsible product manager for SAP SCM software and as Director for special strategic projects.

He has 30 years of experience with SAP/IT systems, is co-author of seven books and more than 150 publications. Alexander is co-inventor of a number of patents regarding In-Memory Technology & Applications and Digital Decoupling.


Alexander earned his MBA from Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg and completed his PhD in Information Systems at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University in the field of artificial intelligence and a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He lives in the Frankfurt am Main area.
